Senior Electrical Engineer Adlington or Sunderland £50,000–£60,000 per year (DOE) Jackson Hogg is delighted to be supporting a leading engineering businessfor the appointment of a Senior Electrical Engineer into their growing engineering function. This role will play a critical part in delivering complex projects in the energy, infrastructure, and industrial sectors. Role Overview As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will take ownership of all electrical engineering deliverables within multi-disciplinary project teams, from concept through to commissioning. Senior Electrical Engineer – Key Responsibilities * Lead the execution of electrical engineering scopes, including technical specifications, control panel and MCC design, PLC/field equipment selection, and cable calculations. * Act as a technical liaison with customers to manage scope, clarify deliverables, and support the resolution of engineering queries. * Produce, review, and maintain essential technical documentation such as SLDs, I/O schedules, termination drawings, load schedules, and instrument data sheets. * Execute subcontractor interface management, scope definition, requisitioning, and technical bid evaluation for bought-out equipment. * Ensure project delivery aligns with relevant safety regulations, standards, and CE/UKCA requirements. * Perform gap analysis, risk assessments, and design reviews throughout the project lifecycle. * Contribute to HAZOPs, FATs, and ITP generation, ensuring that lessons learned and continuous improvement are embedded into project outcomes. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage risks, cost implications, and project timescales. * Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior engineers. Senior Electrical Engineer – Key Requirements * HNC or higher in Electrical and/or Controls Engineering. * Significant experience in contract environments, ideally within material handling, process, or heavy industrial sectors. * Strong working knowledge of electrical distribution, control and protection systems, and their application in demanding operational environments. * Understanding of mechanical and process interactions and how they influence electrical and control design. * Familiarity with current IET Wiring Regulations, CE/UKCA compliance, ATEX considerations, and design risk assessments. * Ability to produce engineering deliverables in line with project cost, quality, and schedule objectives. * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proactive and solutions-driven mindset. This is a permanent, hybrid role, with flexibility between Adlington and Sunderland offices and occasional travel as required.
