Role Overview
The position expedites mechanical maintenance activities safely and efficiently to agreed work plans, safety management systems and best working practices in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and Business Objectives to ensure that the performance and availability of mechanical systems meets the standards required to achieve safety, production and environmental targets for the Middlesbrough and Billingham sites.
Key Responsibilities
* Implementing planned maintenance tasks and repairing equipment on an as‑needed basis
* Carrying out planned preventative maintenance activities
* Identifying faults in order to carry out simple and/or complex repairs
* Providing technical and troubleshooting support to company personnel in mechanical matters, including breakdowns
* Being a key member of the on‑call rota system and providing out‑of‑hours on‑call support to both sites
* Implementing plant improvements as identified by the Maintenance Managers
* Performing daily input into the computerised maintenance management system
* Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental management policies
Required Skills
* Ideal candidate would have 5+ years relevant experience in a maintenance role on a COMAH upper tier chemical manufacturing plant
* As a minimum, the successful candidate should have a recognised apprenticeship or mechanical fitting/engineering qualification
* Must be familiar with repair of pumps, valves and general chemical plant processing equipment
* Experience in inspection and repair of rotating equipment
* Must be eligible to work in the UK and have a full UK driving licence
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, self‑motivated with a good team ethic
