West Yorkshire Police is seeking to appoint an experienced Mechanical and Electrical Clerk of Works to join their Estates Department.
This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with the abilities to provide an in-house clerk of works service across both disciplines within live buildings, reactive and planned maintenance works, and major installations, whilst also assisting the wider Department in the delivery of both projects and day to day facilities management.
The Force Estate comprises of around 100 buildings and includes a range of operational and specialist facilities, and the role requires someone with the abilities to work well within a team, on their own initiative and to prioritise workload.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in the Mechanical and Electrical industry and have a City and Guilds L3/ONC qualification and/or proven relevant experience.
The role requires a clear working knowledge of current industry regulations, standards and best practice, Health and Safety legislation and statutory compliance requirements with the ability to respond to day to day issues and solve practical problems.
With excellent communication skills, being able to provide oral and written technical advice with clarity to both clients, consultants and contractors, the successful candidate will also have experience of working to specifications, tender scopes, pricing documents and technical design drawings.
This role requires experience in managing and coordinating contractors to support multi discipline projects, day to day repairs and maintenance and planned preventative maintenance works and ideally the successful candidate will have experience in validating financial payment applications from contractors.
The role is based in Central Wakefield but the ability to travel throughout West Yorkshire to suit the needs of West Yorkshire Police is essential.
