We’re hiring a Transport Coordinator to join our team at the Manchester Depot (M17 1TU) within the Müller Milk & Ingredients Distribution Business.
In this full-time, permanent role, you’ll play a key part in coordinating transport operations that deliver both value and compliance.
1. Contract: Full-time / Permanent
2. Location: Manchester Depot (M17 1TU)
3. Shift: Day shift – 0600 – 1800
4. Salary: £34,594.64
Transport Coordinator Key Responsibilities
As a Transport Coordinator, you will:
5. Lead daily driver briefings and debriefings, identifying and implementing performance improvements via PMS.
6. Champion Müller’s safety culture by using STAR cards, conducting safety sweeps, and supporting accident/incident investigations.
7. Maintain and update the site’s run folder, ensuring all changes are clearly communicated.
8. Manage breakdown and recovery procedures for all MMID vehicles.
9. Oversee site assets including GKNs, trolleys, and handheld devices.
10. Drive operational excellence by identifying and implementing improvement initiatives.
11. Understand and enforce all work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
12. Monitor service levels, including customer service metrics and reporting of shorts and lates.
13. Ensure effective resource allocation, legal compliance, and timely communication of changes.
14. Manage the site fuel master key and track fuel usage.
15. Coordinate vehicle servicing in collaboration with the garage team.
16. Oversee the Daily Tacho Master system to ensure driver compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
17. Conduct trailer checks, including temperature monitoring and regular audits.
18. Manage cross-dock operations efficiently.
19. Maintain AS400 system housekeeping.
20. Promote and embody MMID values and behaviours.
21. Support and manage third-party logistics (3PL) relationships.
Transport Coordinator Key Skills & Experience
We’re looking for someone who:
22. Has relevant experience in a similar transport or logistics role (desirable)
23. Works well independently and as part of a team
24. Can manage deadlines and prioritise effectively
25. Is self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude
26. Demonstrates initiative and ownership in their work
27. Communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
28. Brings a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence
