Working at the heart of the service, you will provide a wide range of administrative support while acting as the non-emergency voice of the organisation. These are varied and rewarding roles, where you’ll use your administrative and customer service skills to support colleagues and engage confidently with the public. We have two positions available: Position 1: 37 hours per week Position 2: 22.5 hours per week, with a focus on Property and Estates Administration Your role and responsibilities As part of our Business Support Team, you’ll work closely with Senior Administrators and colleagues across the Fire and Rescue Service to deliver a wide range of administrative support. Your responsibilities will include: Providing day-to-day administrative support across multiple departments Responding to non-emergency telephone calls and enquiries, ensuring they are dealt with promptly and effectively Supporting colleagues and senior leaders across the service Helping ensure work is completed efficiently and to a high standard Contributing to events, projects and activities that support our communities You will quickly develop an understanding of how different parts of the organisation work and play an important role in helping teams deliver their services effectively. What we're looking for A positive, can-do attitude with a genuine willingness to learn and develop Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, along with experience of Microsoft Teams and SharePoint. The ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently, supporting shared priorities and goals. The team The Business Support Team is based at Fire Service Headquarters in Ipswich. We are a busy and supportive team providing vital support across Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service while also acting as a key non-emergency contact point for the public. Our team plays a unique role across the service, giving you the opportunity to be involved in a variety of activities and work closely with teams across the organisation. You may also have the chance to support events such as Open Days and the County Show. We work in a hybrid way, with a minimum of four days per week office-based and Fridays typically worked from home. During your initial training period, you will be required to work full time from the office. As our office is within the response area for Princes Street Fire Station, existing On-Call Firefighters may be able to respond while at work. For anyone interested in becoming an On-Call Firefighter, there may also be opportunities to discuss combining this role with on-call duties, subject to eligibility and operational requirements.
