Base pay range
Thatcher Associates are currently working with an established Building Contractor to identify a driven and experienced Site Manager to join their Bristol team. Initially, you will be overseeing a refurbishment project valued at £2 million; future projects will include both refurbishment and new build projects up to the value of £10 million across various sectors including education, leisure, and health care.
The Role
Typically, projects are predominantly new builds with some refurbishment schemes. The initial project will be a new build project based near Bristol, with future projects located in Somerset, Bristol, or Wiltshire.
Responsibilities
* Planning and estimating for budgets and timescales;
* Contributing to work planning and briefing project teams, contractors, and suppliers;
* Passing any extra work to be done within set timescales;
* Supplying information to resolve disputes if they arise;
* Identifying areas of concern and finding solutions for existing contracting processes;
* Overseeing health and safety implementation to appropriate standards;
* Managing the on-site management team and overseeing sub-contractors.
Skills
* Demonstrable experience leading and motivating a multi-skilled trade team;
* Able to think outside the box and react quickly to issues that need resolving;
* Good organizational skills;
* Ability to deliver quality within required timescales;
* Good knowledge and understanding of construction, building regulations, and planning;
* Commercial awareness and ability to establish and maintain good working relationships;
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
* A culture of continuous improvement;
* SMSTS;
* CSCS CARD;
* First Aid Card;
* HNC/HND or construction degree or equivalent qualification;
* Ideally, currently working for a large building contractor and looking to progress your career.
* Some leisure, education, or health-care project experience preferred but not essential;
* Proven experience running projects of at least £8 million in value;
* Exposure to new build projects and various complex schemes;
* Extensive knowledge of health and safety and risk management on site.
