Associate (3+ PQE) – Professional Liability

Leeds or Newcastle

We are looking for an Associate with 3+ years' PQE to join our growing Professional Liability practice in either Leeds or Newcastle. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and commercially minded lawyer to develop their career within a collaborative and highly regarded team.

The Team

Kennedys' Professional Liability team acts for insurers, construction professionals, solicitors, brokers, accountants and other professionals across a wide range of complex disputes and claims. The team is recognised for its market-leading expertise and strong client relationships; handling matters of significant value and technical complexity.

The Role

You will work closely with partners and senior lawyers on a varied caseload of professional indemnity matters, with a particular focus on construction-related claims. The role will involve:

1. Managing a caseload of professional indemnity claims from inception to resolution
2. Advising insurers and insured professionals on coverage and liability issues
3. Handling claims involving construction professionals including architects, engineers, surveyors and design consultants
4. Drafting pleadings, witness statements and technical advice
5. Supporting business development initiatives and client relationship management
6. Collaborating with colleagues across the wider insurance and liability practices

About You

We are interested in hearing from candidates who:

7. Are qualified solicitors with 3+ years' PQE
8. Have experience in professional indemnity, insurance litigation or complex commercial disputes
9. Ideally have exposure to construction-related professional liability matters
10. Possess strong technical and analytical skills
11. Are confident communicators with a commercial and client-focused approach
12. Thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment
