You’ll help keep our nation moving every day. This role involves the daily upkeep of the rail network.
As a technician, you'll work outdoors in a team, supporting essential maintenance to keep the railway safe and efficient for passengers and freight.
Our technicians come from diverse backgrounds. We focus on your transferable skills and behaviors. If you demonstrate these, we will provide all necessary training for safe and competent work on the network.
About the role (External):
Technicians act as a link between team leaders and operatives, specializing in areas such as:
Track: Responsible for maintaining, inspecting, and repairing the track network (Permanent Way or P-Way), ensuring safety and efficiency. This involves manual work with rails, sleepers, ballast, drainage, and structures.
Work is outdoors in all weather conditions, often involving manual labor and transportation of equipment across challenging terrain. Safety, rule adherence, and teamwork are critical, especially working near moving trains.

You should be a team player and capable of leading when needed. You’ll ensure work is done safely, verify team competencies, and model safe behaviors, challenging risks to ensure everyone’s safety.

* Driving license (category B): Required for vehicle operation.
* Commute: Within 60 minutes of the location.
