We are recruiting a Senior Project Manager to join the Lancaster University Strategic Projects team. This represents an exciting opportunity for those who wish to develop their career in Project Management and related disciplines, and who wish to play a critical role in delivering our global development strategy.
About the team
Our small and friendly team works closely with senior management to provide project and programme management to initiatives of significant scale and scope critical to delivering aspects of the University Strategy. We play a central role in the successful management of institutional change by providing a consistent framework for the planning, governance, and execution of initiatives.
About the role
You will primarily be deployed to perform a key role in our Global portfolio by supporting the Pro-Vice-Chancellor Global and the Global Engagement team by undertaking project planning, budgeting, monitoring workstreams, maintaining quality and managing risks. You will act lynchpin in ensuring the delivery of successful, high-quality global projects and will need to be able to successfully utilise change management techniques and manage relationships with partners.
In July 2025, the University successfully applied for a Letter of Intent to open a branch campus of Lancaster University in Bengaluru, India. It is anticipated the project will follow a similar model to LU Leipzig, with Navitas as the delivery partner. It is currently anticipated that this role will be central to developing our plans and business case, building the project team, seeking the necessary approvals, undertaking the required due diligence, liaising with our partner Navitas and with staff at all levels within the University.

Other information
This position is offered on a full-time internal fixed term basis, commencing as soon as possible. The contract will end on 31 July 2026 with the possibility of an extension.
The Strategic Projects team works in a flexible and agile manner. Due to the nature of the role, there will be a need to engage with a wide range of stakeholders regularly in-person at the campus near Lancaster, and there may also be a need for some national and international travel at times.
