Deputy Dietetic Manager (Acute Lead)

South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced leader with strategic, operational management, service development and clinical leadership skills to support our dietetic service across Warwickshire.
With a robust service to adults, children and community settings, the successful candidate will provide maternity cover and deputy for the Dietetic Service Manager (Acute Lead).
Job responsibilities
* Managerial
o Provide professional leadership and ensure compliance with BDA Code of conduct, HCPC Standards of proficiency and conduct.
o Deputise for the Dietetic Manager and attend Trust wide meetings in their absence.
o Ensure commissioning requirements and administrative procedures for the agreed area are delivered and reported.
o Authorise expenditure against a delegated budget and ensure best use of staff, resources and equipment within budget constraints.
o Recruit, induct and manage Registered Dietitians and Assistant Practitioners, including monitoring performance, arranging cover and investigating incidents and complaints.
o Carry out personal development reviews for staff.
o Authorise stock and non‑stock equipment in line with Trust financial instructions.
* Clinical
o Develop and deliver a clinical service in an agreed clinical area.
o Provide cover for colleagues during planned and unplanned leave.
* Stock Control
o Ensure adequate stocks of patient literature and equipment are available and maintained.
* Training and Education
o Identify training needs through appraisal and annual training needs analysis.
o Provide training, education and support for new staff and those wishing to gain experience.
o Assist in the introduction of dietetic apprentices in the Trust.
o Maintain up‑to‑date clinical knowledge and attend mandatory and statutory training.
* Clinical Governance
o Ensure the departmental clinical governance agenda meets Trust standards, leading in areas such as audits, guidelines, incident investigation and research opportunities.
o Plan and organise own workload, evaluate own practice and comply with clinical guidelines, policies and procedures.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered dietitian with the Health Care Professions Council.
* Documented evidence of continuing professional development.
* Post‑registration training at Master’s level.
* Clinical Education Skills Course.
* Evidence of leadership training.
* Post‑graduate management training and qualifications.
Experience
* Experience of dietetic practice in a range of settings.
* Experience of line managing staff.
* Experience of leading and delivering elements of Clinical Governance.
* Experience of line managing clinical staff.
* Experience of recruitment and selection processes.
* Experience of clinical supervision of dietetic students and junior staff.
* Experience of project management.
Skills
* Up to date dietetic professional knowledge and evidence of continuous professional development.
* Understanding of NHS and professional issues and strategies.
* Ability to work within legal and ethical boundaries.
* Effective member of the dietetic and multidisciplinary team.
* Advanced written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
