NEW CONTRACT ROLE - DEVOPS ENGINEER (GitLab CI/CD Migration) UK-Based Candidates Only | 3 Month Contract (Jan 2026 Start) | £450-500 Outside IR35 Per Day | Remote or Hybrid (as required) To apply, email: jordanna.ramsey@searchability.com THE OPPORTUNITY We're looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to support a defined migration and optimisation project focused on GitLab CI/CD, containerised services, and automated testing. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused engagement suited to contractors who enjoy working across the full DevOps lifecycle and delivering tangible outcomes within a fixed timeframe. THE ROLE You will take ownership of planning, implementing, and delivering a structured DevOps migration, working closely with engineering teams to modernise CI/CD pipelines and optimise deployment workflows. Key responsibilities include: Conducting an initial planning and assessment phase to review existing CI/CD processes and infrastructure. Designing and configuring GitLab CI/CD pipelines, including runners, security, and access controls. Migrating containerised services into GitLab-based CI/CD workflows with minimal disruption. Integrating automated testing (unit, integration, end-to-end) into CI pipelines. Decommissioning legacy CI/CD tooling and optimising pipeline performance. Optionally implementing a hybrid CI/CD approach for non-containerised services where required. Producing clear documentation and supporting knowledge transfer at project completion. TECHNICAL SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer in project-based environments. Strong hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD and pipeline design. Solid understanding of containerisation (Docker) and modern deployment practices. Experience migrating and modernising CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and CI integration. Experience with cloud platforms and/or Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible).
