This is a permanent full-time role requiring flexibility to work shifts. Year-on-year, as we continue to grow, we need to work as smart as we can, to keep all our team members safe, fulfilled, motivated and empowered. To help us achieve this, we’re seeking a driven Health & Safety Technician.
Our Sortation Centres are the link in Amazon’s rapidly growing business: they’re where we manage our fast-moving shipments across the world. In this crucial health and safety position, you’ll report into the Health and Safety Manager, as part of an evening/night shift-based role.
Key job responsibilities include:
* Undertake risk assessments as required, while proactively following up on control measures until complete
* Complete daily metrics and callouts
* Take a deep dive into Sort Centre data, as you monitor recordable incidents on-site
* Leverage your auditor-level knowledge of Amazon’s procedures and legal requirements, advising associates and managers accordingly
* Become a subject matter expert in your specific level of Health and Safety competence, while staying vigilant and not disclosing any sensitive information
* Consistently monitor your Sortation Centre, keeping an eye on compliance with Amazon’s safety procedures
* Investigate accidents, near misses and any incidents, establishing root cause
* Update internal records regarding incidents, near misses and accidents
* Undertake action plans to ensure continuing, sustained compliance with legislation
* Conduct yourself professionally at all times, maintaining confidentiality in matters involving safety investigations
* Flexibility: you’re willing and able to cover non-traditional shifts–including nights and weekends–during peak periods

Basic Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
* Health and Safety NVQ Level 3 or NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
* Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Minimum Intermediate level of English (B2) in written and verbal English
* Experience running metrics reports, analysing data to identify problems and root cause
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
* Experience in logistics/operations/warehouse/customer-oriented environment
* Demonstrable ability to learn quickly, while closely adhering to new processes and procedures
* Demonstrate willingness to change, adapt and innovate within the business
* You possess a meticulous level of sustained attention-to-detail
* You’re able to work independently, at times under minimum levels of supervision, demonstrating your ability to organise and prioritise your time effectively to meet targets and deadlines
* You can work at all levels, coaching and mentoring others to work safely
