Job Title: Audio Recording TechnicianBusiness Unit: Court ReportingDays: Monday - FridayHours:Variable – usually within the core hours of 8.00 am – 4.30 pmLocation: London, UKA great opportunity has arisen for the recruitment of Audio Recording Technicians to work on a self-employed basis for Epiq, one of the world’s leading global providers of integrated technology and services for the legal profession.You will be digitally recording several different types of legal hearings and keeping an accurate log of the proceedings using dedicated digital recording equipment supplied by the company. Successful candidates must be based in London or the greater London area. Hearings are primarily based in the London area but there may also be a limited number of assignments in other locations within the UK or abroad so some travel may be required from time to time. Coverage of remote hearings will be by agreement only and travel and accommodation costs will be paid for remote assignments only.You will be technically adept, with excellent attention to detail and good time management. Most legal hearings are conducted on site but there may also be a limited number of virtual assignments. You will need to have fast internet access and be familiar with participating in meetings held on various online platforms. When attending hearings in person you will be required to present a professional appearance and wear formal business attire.Shortlisted candidates will undertake the Epiq on-line English, IQ and typing assessments. On successful completion of these assessments, you will receive full training in digital recording and logging.Please note this is a self-employed role.Key Areas of ResponsibilityTo set up and fully test digital recording equipment prior to the start of the hearingTo operate and monitor the equipment throughout the hearing to ensure that a constant and clear recording is being madeTo maintain a clear and accurate running log of the proceedings detailing the names of individual speakers and glossary information, noting the spelling of key words to facilitate the completion of an accurate, high quality transcript after the hearingTo save and archive audio recordings using the conventions specified by EpiqTo report back to the UK resourcing team at the end of each working dayTo undertake training as and when requiredPersonal ProfileEducated to minimum A level or equivalent standardGood English language skills – grammar, spelling and punctuationRelevant work experience, preferably in a legal, parliamentary or business settingTechnical competency with digital recording equipmentKey CompetenciesHigh degree of accuracy and attention to detailProven written and spoken communication skillsFlexible and adaptable in approachProfessional service ethicAble to manage workload and meet deadlinesAble to effectively problem solveSelf-motivated and self-disciplinedEffective interpersonal skillsAble to work independentlyAble to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all timesInterest in the law and current affairsLive audio recording experience requiredrelevant audio recording qualifications requiredThe RewardsEarn extra money when it suits youA competitive rate of payApplicationsIf you are interested in the above position and have the skills and key competencies required, please email a copy of your CV together with a covering letter detailing your suitability to IConboarding@epiqglobal.com.We thank all applicants for their interest.
