Preheat Engineering is the British designer and manufacturer of PEREGRINE and FALCON engine preheaters and fuel storage heating solutions. We provide reliable back-up power engine preheaters to critical industry sectors operating in demanding environments worldwide. As the business expands, we are seeking a driven and proactive individual to help strengthen client relationships, grow repeat business, and unlock new opportunities.
The Role
We are looking for an Account Manager to focus on developing and growing existing client accounts (particularly our “B and C” customers), while also identifying and pursuing new business opportunities. You’ll work closely with the Director and Sales Manager, but this is a standalone, proactive role where success will be measured by growth in account activity and new business won.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and grow existing customer accounts, focusing on increasing repeat orders and “business as usual” revenue.
* Proactively engage with clients by phone and email to build relationships and identify opportunities.
* Develop new business by targeting potential customers within relevant industries.
* Use company databases (Sage, ERP/CRM systems) to track activity, update client records, and manage leads.
* Process orders accurately and follow up on enquiries to ensure a smooth customer experience.
* Work closely with the Director and Sales Manager to align account growth with company objectives.
* Provide regular updates on sales activity, pipeline, and progress against targets.
* Contribute ideas for improving client engagement, marketing, and lead generation initiatives.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Proven experience in sales, account management, or business development.
* Highly motivated, target-driven, and hungry to succeed.
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
* Ability to work independently, manage workload, and follow through on opportunities.
* Structured and organised approach with attention to detail.
* Comfortable using CRM/ERP systems and databases.
Desirable:
* Experience in engineering, manufacturing, or technical sectors (not essential - full product training provided).
* Track record of growing accounts and delivering measurable revenue growth.
* Local market knowledge and existing contacts within relevant industries.
What We Offer
* Base salary of £28,000 - £30,000/annum (with performance-based review after 3 months).
* Annual leave - 25 days (plus bank holidays)
