Job Description
A growing, privately owned manufacturing business is looking to appoint a driven Finance Manager as part of its next phase of growth.Reporting directly to a forward-thinking Finance Director, this is a hands-on role offering real ownership of the day-to-day finance function, along with visibility and influence across the senior leadership team.You'll be leading a small finance team (currently three people), ensuring smooth financial operations while helping to shape the future of the function. The business is looking for someone who’s confident stepping into a leadership role, keen to develop both their technical and commercial skill set, and motivated by the opportunity to make a tangible impact in a fast-paced, growing environment.This would suit a newly qualified or finalist accountant with some team supervision or management experience, looking for a first or second step into a broader leadership role.Package to include:
* Salary: £50,000 - £60,000
* 25 days holiday + bank holidays
* Life insurance policy
* 1.30pm Friday finish
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the production of monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and variance analysis
* Manage rolling forecasts and cost centre reviews in partnership with operational and commercial teams
* Oversee all aspects of transactional finance, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger
* Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and ensure financial controls are robust
* Prepare and submit VAT and CIS returns in full compliance with HMRC regulations
* Provide margin and project costing analysis to drive commercial insight
* Support the year-end audit process, including preparation of schedules and liaison with external auditors
* Deliver ad hoc analysis and reporting to support senior leadership decisions
* Collaborate with IT to enhance reporting systems and streamline finance processes
* Mentor and develop junior finance staff, creating a high-performing, well-supported team
Ideal Candidate
* Fully qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
* Experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or project-based environment preferred
* Strong technical grounding in management reporting, forecasting, and compliance
* Comfortable working cross-functionally and influencing non-finance stakeholders
* Ambitious, hands-on, and eager to contribute to a growing business
* Proficient in Excel and finance systems, with a continuous improvement mindset
* Keen to develop under the guidance of an experienced FD and take on more responsibility over time
