Job Description:
? Field Engineer – South Coast (Southampton & Portsmouth)
? Field-based across the South Coast
? £30,000–£32,000 base with average earnings up to £38,000-£44,000+
? Full-time | 37.5 hrs/week contracted on-site | 1-in-4 weekend on-call
I'm currently working with a growing tech services company that's expanding its field engineering team due to continued success and increased demand — particularly across the South Coast (Southampton, Portsmouth, and surrounding areas).
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the field, enjoys working across various sites, and has a solid mix of IT skills, cabling knowledge, and a fault-finding mindset.
The Day-to-Day
You’ll be responsible for a broad range of site-based support, install, and maintenance work, including:
* CCTV installations, maintenance, and support
* Wireless access point setups and swap-outs
* EPOS systems installations and troubleshooting
* Digital signage setups
* General IT-related fault-finding
What They’re Looking For
Must-haves:
* Experience with structured cabling/data networking
* Someone naturally curious with solid fault diagnosis skills
* Full UK Driving Licence
Nice-to-haves:
* Background in CCTV or EPOS systems
* Field-based role: Primarily across the South Coast but may occasionally travel further
* On-site time typically 8–9 hours/day; travel time not included in paid hours
* Engineers are typically achieving 45+ hours on-site to hit the £38k–£44k range
Salary & Benefits
* Expected earnings: £38k-44k
* Overtime rates: Weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays – 1.5x, Sundays – 2x
A Note on Fit
This is a full-time permanent role, not suited to career subcontractors. The company is looking for someone ready to join the team long-term, grow with them, and really take ownership of their patch on the South Coast.
