Head of Credit Analytics - Consumer Finance
Manchester - Hybrid - three days a week in city centre Manchester
£80,000 to £100,000 per annum plus excellent bonus and benefits package
The Client:
* A specialist bank providing a range of lending and savings products for the UK SME and retail consumer markets.
* Celebrated for its award-winning culture and offering excellent opportunities for career progression as it looks to expand its product reach through diversification and acquisition.
* Launching a retail consumer finance product to complement its existing range of lending products.
The Role:
* Leading all aspects of the bank's automated lending decisioning as it streamlines credit risk analysis and launches into new product areas including a new consumer hire purchase retail offering.
* Designing and implementing consumer lending decision strategies, rulesets and scorecards supported by best-in-class modern technology.
* Owning the risk-based pricing model, reporting and monitoring automated decisioning performance.
* Feeding back performance observations and suggesting improvements to the consumer lending team including underwriting, collections and customer services.
* Assisting the finance team with the development of IFRS9 modelling and provisioning and contributing to the overall lending strategy and risk appetite of the bank.
* Supporting the data team in the management of customer application data and the technology team with the ongoing management of the decisioning engine.
*** This is a critically important role for the client - it is a hands on credit risk analytics role - it requires someone who will be very hands on rather than someone who needs a team around them to get the practical elements done for them. The jobholder will be responsible for recruiting a team but that might only be one or two people in the first year or so.***
The Ideal Candidate:
* Several years of experience in a credit analytics role within regulated financial services, ideally with exposure to consumer lending.
* A hands on practical approach - this maybe someone's first step into a more senior management role.
* Highly competent in Excel and SQL with a good working knowledge of Python, SAS, R or similar.
* A good understanding of credit bureau and open banking data structures.
* Able to present, interact and influence clearly with non-technical senior stakeholders.
* Passionate about training and developing junior talent and spreading specialist knowledge.
