Overview
We have an exciting opportunity to join our passionate and enthusiastic team at Bridgend College as a Lecturer in Therapeutic Counselling. This role will allow you to support and inspire the next generation of counselling professionals through high-quality teaching, mentorship, and academic guidance. You will contribute to the delivery of our counselling programmes, including Level 4 and Level 5 Diplomas, ensuring that students develop the practical skills, theoretical understanding, and self-awareness needed for professional practice. This is an hourly paid contract (specific days and hours cannot be guaranteed and are offered on a casual, ad hoc basis to fit the needs of the service).
Salary: Unqualified: £25,371 - £29,942 per annum (pro rata, hourly paid); Qualified: £32,304 - £49,934 per annum (pro rata, hourly paid).
Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging sessions
* Assess learner progress
* Support individual development in academic and professional contexts
* Deliver and contribute to the delivery of counselling programmes (Level 4 and Level 5 Diplomas)
* Maintain current practice experience and professional body membership (e.g., BACP, UKCP, National Counselling Society, etc.)
Qualifications
* Recognised qualification in therapeutic counselling (minimum Level 6)
* Member of a professional body such as the BACP, UKCP, National Counselling Society, etc.
* Current practice experience
* Experience of working with young people and/or a PGCE certificate (or willingness to work towards one) is essential
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to a diverse student population
* Passionate about motivating all learners to be well-prepared for successful counselling careers in professional practice
