THE BUSINESS
Westray Recruitment Group is seeking to recruit an experienced Lead Tooling Engineer to work within a Die Maintenance Department for our client based in Sunderland. This is a leadership role, responsible for a small team of Die Maintenance Technicians on shift. The role centres upon delivering Die Maintenance work and the repair of press tooling equipment.

THE ROLE
14. Working to lead a team of Die Maintenance Technicians within the shift as the Lead Tooling Engineer
15. Engaging in “soft HR practices” such as back to works, appraisals, training & development, recruitment & selection and grievance & discipline
16. Working to create shift reports
17. Effective diagnosis and timely repair of equipment to maximise machine availability
18. Leading the repair and maintenance of all assembly and press tooling equipment in a timely manner
19. Leads in geometry improvement activities from technical understanding.
20. Perform scheduled and planned maintenance to reduce breakdowns and improve equipment performance and reliability.
21. Adhering to quality standards and requirements, including all QMS related items.
22. Adhering to all legal and safety requirements including PUWER Power press regulations, lifting and slinging
23. Supporting and championing the intervention process and escalation procedure.
24. Supporting the procurement and management of spare parts and tools required.
25. Reporting of RPO and MTTR data (documentation of jobs/hours completed through electronic reporting methods)
26. Supporting the development of Engineering apprentices through knowledge and skill sharing.
27. Leading planned maintenance activities, including technical improvement activities.
THE PERSON
28. Recognised apprenticeship in Die Maintenance or Tool Making
29. ONC or equivalent level qualification
30. Prior Lead, Team Leader or Supervisory experience within Die Maintenance/Press tooling
31. Industrial manufacturing or automotive relevant engineering experience
32. Proactive and autonomous in workload management
33. Able to communicate at all levels of the business.
34. Able to follow instructions, maintaining composure in pressurised situations
35. Able to prioritise fluctuations in workload, asking for support when needed
36. Analytical, methodical and structured approach to fault finding
37. Champions continuous improvement by seeking alternate or different ways of completing task
38. Cross-functionally/collaboratively driven to support achievement of shared goals and objectives.
