Sport Welfare Project Officer
Contract: Fixed term until March 2027
Hours: 30-37.5 hours per week (flexible options available)
Location: Home-based with national travel
Reports to: Strategic Lead - Welfare
Active Partnerships is seeking a Sport Welfare Project Officer to support a safeguarding and culture change initiative across sport. This role focuses on practical support, insight, and collaboration at a national level.
About the role:
This position supports a national programme aimed at enhancing safeguarding and welfare in grassroots sport. You will coordinate with 63 Sport Welfare Officers nationwide, providing tools, support, and fostering relationships to enable their success.
Responsibilities include gathering insights, supporting daily operations, developing inclusive resources, and being a reliable contact to drive cultural change in sport.

Roles and Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the central team to deliver the Sport Welfare Officer Programme effectively.
* Build positive relationships with officers and stakeholders, fostering trust and collaboration.
* Review evaluations, extract insights, and inform future activities.
* Create internal reports to support programme understanding and improvement.
* Coordinate activities like meetings and events, managing logistics and follow-up.
* Assist with large-scale events and communications, ensuring inclusivity and practicality.
* Develop and improve tools, templates, and guidance for safeguarding practices.
* Ensure content and communication reflect diverse needs.
* Maintain good admin and communication to support team tasks and timelines.
* Travel approximately once or twice a month for regional or national events, including occasional overnight stays.
Knowledge and Skills:
* Strong interpersonal skills—rapport building, listening, and sensitive communication.
* Excellent organization and time management, especially remotely.
* Openness to collaboration and diverse perspectives.
* Clear written communication tailored to different audiences.
* Ability to identify themes in feedback for decision-making support.
* Basic understanding of safeguarding, welfare, and wellbeing principles.
* Proficiency with digital tools like email, video conferencing, and shared documents.
* Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with support when needed.
* Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Work Environment and Support:
* Home-based with regular online meetings.
* Travel 1-2 times/month, with 3-4 overnight stays annually.
* Flexible working options may be available.
* Access to co-working spaces or local offices if needed.
