What you’ll be doing
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be working across a wide range of large-scale heavy plant and equipment. Around 70% of the role is reactive breakdown work, with 30% focused on planned maintenance.
Key responsibilities include:
Carrying out maintenance on hoppers, mixers, conveyors, kilns, silos, and large-scale slicing/mixing equipment.
Servicing and repairing hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Performing bearing and gearbox changes, mechanical fault diagnosis, and general part replacements.
Welding and fabrication work as required.
Following PPM schedules via a tablet-based system.
Supporting installation of new plant and upgrades to existing equipment.
Ensuring compliance with health & safety and contributing to continuous improvement.
This is a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer role in a heavy industrial environment, ideal for someone who thrives on problem-solving and wants the chance to develop their skills further.
What the client is looking for

NVQ Level 3 Qualification
Strong knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
Welding and basic fabrication skills.
Previous factory or heavy industry experience.
A flexible attitude, with willingness to learn and adapt.
Ability to work well within a mixed and supportive engineering team.
