Overview
The Environment Agency is committed to an inclusive workforce. We seek a Document Reader/Exhibits Officer to join the Major Investigations Team. You will read and review documents, identify lines of enquiry, raise and allocate actions, and assess returned actions for completeness to ensure high-quality case files that support legal action. You will have an understanding or background in major investigations and experience or knowledge of HOLMES or other major investigation case management systems.
We’re looking for someone with knowledge of evidence collection and experience managing large volumes of investigative material using a Case Management System. Strong IT skills, attention to detail, and excellent verbal and written communication are essential. There is a requirement to undertake an incident role and be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support, which may attract an additional payment. Full training will be provided for the incident role.
The base location for this role is Birmingham with flexible, hybrid working patterns. You will be expected to attend the office in Birmingham at least once a week.
Responsibilities
* Read and review documents and identify lines of enquiry.
* Raise and allocate actions and assess returned actions for completeness.
* Contribute to high-quality case files that support legal action by the Environment Agency.
* Understand or work with HOLMES or other major investigations case management systems.
* Manage evidence and large volumes of investigative material using the Case Management System.
* Support incident role and provide business continuity as needed, with full training provided.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* Knowledge/understanding of Major Incident Room Standardised Administration Procedures (MIRSAP).
* PIP 2 (Professionalising Investigation Programme) Qualification.
* Experience and knowledge of Exhibit Management.
* Knowledge of investigative legislation (e.g., Criminal Procedures and Investigations Act, Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000).
* Experience of conducting criminal investigations.

* Strong IT skills with a keen eye for detail.
* Ability to manage your own workload and work well in a team.
* Self-starter with the ability to work effectively in a team.
* High regard for Health and Safety practices.
Requirements and Additional Information
* Successful candidates will be expected to pass NPPV2 and SC vetting processes.
* Driving licence is required.
* Flexibility for hybrid working with occasional office attendance in Birmingham.
* Interviews are expected to be held in early October via MS Teams.
* Travel may be required; therefore, a full UK Driving Licence is required.
