Role: PICU Senior Staff Nurse
Location: The Portland Hospital for Women & Children
Department: Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
Status: Permanent, full-time 37.5 hours per week
Shift pattern: Monday – Sunday with flexibility to work long days, nights and weekends

Responsibilities
* Take responsibility for the PICU in the absence of the Sister/Charge nurse.
* Develop, implement and evaluate holistic care plans for children in partnership with the multidisciplinary team.
* Act as a role model and mentor to junior/student nurses; build strong relationships with children and families.
* Support a culture of collaboration, learning and continuous improvement within the team.
* Engage in the delivery and promotion of patient care using the latest technology and evidence-based practice.
What You’ll Bring
* NMC Child Registered Nurse (RN Child / RSCN) with immediate paediatric life support
* Post-graduate experience in a PICU setting
* Understanding of safeguarding issues
* Teaching and mentoring experience desirable
* Completion of a PICU course equivalent to 60 credits
* Excellent clinical governance experience and audits
* Experience in supervising and assessing students and shift leading desirable
