Job Title: Senior / Quantity Surveyor
Salary: £50,000 – £65,000 (depending on experience) + car allowance + benefits package
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior / Quantity Surveyor to join our client's team based in West Yorkshire. This is a permanent role offering the opportunity to play a key part in delivering successful commercial outcomes across a range of exciting infrastructure and civil projects.
You will lead on cost management, procurement, and commercial strategy, ensuring projects are delivered on budget and in line with company goals. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise and a collaborative approach, looking to take the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed cost plans and estimates.
* Provide advice on cost-effective solutions and value engineering.
* Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with business objectives.
* Set financial targets and monitor project performance.
* Lead the tendering process, from preparation to bid evaluation.
* Advise on procurement strategies and contractor selection.
* Support procurement operations and goods received processes (GRN).
Contract Administration
* Oversee interim valuations, variations, and preparation of final accounts.
* Ensure compliance with contract terms and manage disputes.
* Negotiate terms with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Cost Control & Reporting
* Monitor and control project costs and cash flow.
* Produce regular, accurate financial reports for stakeholders.
* Ensure profitability across projects.
* Identify and mitigate risks.
* Drive value through strategic planning and cost control.
* Supervise and mentor junior staff.
* Delegate tasks and ensure quality standards.
* Lead and develop commercial teams.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
* Represent the company in client meetings and discussions.
* Resolve disputes while maintaining good relationships.
* Support business development and strategic growth.
Compliance & Governance
* Ensure adherence to legal, contractual, and internal policies.
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally at senior level.
* Strong understanding of construction contracts and best practices.
* Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
* Proactive, solution-focused mindset.
* Experience with NEC contracts.
