Are you a seasoned Geotechnical Engineer looking to make a tangible impact on one of the UK's largest and most high-profile infrastructure projects? EDF, following the success of Hinkley Point C, is expanding its Sizewell C (SZC) team and is seeking top talent to join the project in Suffolk. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a nuclear new build that will deliver reliable, low-carbon electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, supporting the UK's Net Zero ambitions.
As part of the Engineering & Technical function within the Civil Works Programme, the Geotechnical Engineer will play a pivotal role in managing geotechnical risks, setting and endorsing geotechnical requirements, and ensuring compliance across designers and contractors.
What You'll Be Doing
As a key member of the team, your work will span the full breadth of geotechnical engineering on this mega-project, including:
Leading ground investigation campaigns, both offshore and onshore
Overseeing site trials and ground stabilisation/improvement
Supporting road, rail, and marine infrastructure projects, including jetty foundations
Conducting material testing on peat, crag sand, and other soils
Managing earthworks, including excavation, transport, blending, and backfill
Implementing groundwater control, dewatering, and fluvial flood prevention measures
