Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly, enthusiastic team at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge as a Band 8A Senior Nuclear Medicine Physicist. We work in a large, newly refurbished department that offers a wide range of diagnostic procedures and therapies, including SIRT, PRRT and PSMA. We have three SPECT/SPECT-CT systems, a PET-CT scanner and a large radiopharmacy. This year we are installing state-of-the-art imaging equipment in the form of 3D SPECT-CT and LAFOV PET-CT machines. We also provide MPE/physics support for four Nuclear Medicine departments at regional hospitals. We are a forward-thinking group with close ties to the University of Cambridge, and we are involved in some exciting research projects, especially early phase MRT trials. We are keen to make our service the best that it can be, and that includes a commitment to developing our team professionally. You would be encouraged to lead on your own projects, and supported in working towards registration as a Higher Specialist Scientist.

Main duties of the job

Playing a lead role in the delivery of scientific services and radiation safety support to the Nuclear Medicine department, including advice at MPE level.

Providing similar support in person and remotely to our partners across the region.

Initiating and managing R&D projects and audits to ensure that we are applying best practice and optimising our procedures.

Participating in the duty physics rota (therapies, dosimetry, equipment QC, troubleshooting etc.).

Managing and training junior physicists, and providing radiation training to NM & PET staff and other hospital groups working with ionising radiation.
