Shift Production Manager - Plastics Manufacturing, Mansfield
W Talent is delighted to be working with a well-established manufacturing business within the plastics sector, who are seeking an experienced Shift Production Manager to lead production operations on a rotating shift basis at their site in Mansfield. This role is critical in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing output while driving continuous improvement across people, processes, and performance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The Role
The Shift Production Manager will be responsible for managing all production activities during their allocated shift, ensuring delivery against production plans, KPIs, and operational targets. You will lead and motivate production teams, manage resources effectively, and ensure full compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
Take ownership of production performance across the assigned shift, ensuring output, quality, cost, and safety targets are met.
Lead, coach, and develop shift-based production teams to maximise engagement and performance.
Ensure all health, safety, and environmental requirements are adhered to at all times.
Monitor and manage product quality, addressing non-conformances promptly.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, waste reduction, downtime, and OEE.
Coordinate labour, materials, and machine availability to ensure smooth production flow and effective shift handovers.
Investigate incidents, breakdowns, and performance issues, implementing corrective and preventative actions.
Work closely with engineering, quality, and planning teams to support wider business objectives.About You
Proven experience in a production or manufacturing management role, ideally within plastics or a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Strong people management skills with experience leading teams on a shift-based operation.
Sound knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards in manufacturing.
A proactive, structured approach to problem-solving and performance management.
Comfortable working a rotating 3-shift pattern.Salary & Benefits
This role offers a salary of £50,000 per annum, on a permanent contract. The position operates on a rotating 3-shift pattern, working 9-hour shifts across a 45-hour week (05:00-14:00, 13:00-22:00, 21:00-06:00). Additional benefits include death in service cover at 2x annual salary and private medical insurance with BUPA (individual cover)
