Senior Physiotherapist – Pelvic Health, Bedford Hospital

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Team as a Senior Physiotherapist, based at Bedford Hospital. As part of the wider therapies service, our department is highly valued and respected across the Trust.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised, and well‑motivated physiotherapist to join us on a full‑time basis. The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced clinical skills in the assessment and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction, including continence issues and musculoskeletal disorders related to pregnancy. You will be expected to work autonomously, providing clinical diagnoses and delivering evidence‑based physiotherapy interventions, while maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records.

Strong communication and documentation skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritise and delegate effectively within a busy clinical environment. The service is also committed to supporting student placements, offering opportunities for mentorship and professional development.

The post holder will carry out advanced physiotherapeutic assessments for patients presenting with a wide range of complex physical and psychological conditions. They will be responsible for formulating clinical diagnoses and developing tailored treatment programmes to meet individual patient needs.

They will seek guidance and support from senior physiotherapists as needed to enhance clinical reasoning and decision‑making in highly complex cases.

As an autonomous practitioner, the post holder will manage their own caseload, taking full responsibility for the assessment, treatment, and discharge of patients, while delivering all aspects of clinical care independently.

In addition, they will provide supervision and education to junior physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants, and undergraduate students, supporting their development and contributing to a positive learning environment.

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital services to a growing population of around 700,000 people living across Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas across two busy hospital sites in Bedford and Luton. Both hospital sites offer key services such as A&E, Obstetrics‑led Maternity and Paediatrics. You will be joining a friendly, high performing Trust committed to ensuring the health and wellbeing of staff. As one of the largest NHS Trusts in our region you will have access to a programme of high quality training and development to help you grow your career. The Trust continues to be committed to delivering the best patient care using the best clinical knowledge and technology available.

We not only recruit based on qualifications and experience - we recruit individuals who demonstrate the behaviours which underpin our Trusts core values. We achieve this by using values based recruitment. We are dedicated to making our recruitment practices as inclusive as possible for everyone, we are committed to promoting equality and diversity, and creating a culture that values differences.

Please note that vacancies may close prior to the advertised closing date when sufficient number of applications have been received. All new staff will be subject to a probationary period covering first 6 months in post. Travel between hospital sites may be required. Please review all documents attached to ensure you familiarise yourself with all requirements of the job.
