Offer description

Horton Housing Association are currently recruiting for a Housing Support Worker on a full time permanent basis in the Calderdale area. The successful candidate will work 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm30) and will be entitled to 6 weeks annual leave (plus bank holidays). Reporting to the IHM Manager, the Housing Support Worker is responsible for supporting a caseload, which includes supporting people to maintain their tenancy and achieve successful outcomes. The role involves assisting individuals in the practical and emotional aspects of maintaining their accommodation and liaising with other support services, ensuring immediate needs are met—such as access to welfare benefits, food, clothing and health care—while providing appropriate support based on the person’s needs, risk assessment and support plan. The worker will also carry out domestic duties and minor repairs to ensure clients have a clean and safe living environment.

* Experience of working directly with people who are homeless, people with drug and/or alcohol issues, people with a history of offending and those in crisis situations.
* Experience of undertaking client assessments, developing individual support plans and working with vulnerable people in a community setting.
* Experience of providing support to clients to assist them in maintaining their own homes.
* Experience of housing management tasks (e.g., reporting repairs, health and safety, tenancy management).
* Evidence of vocational training in relevant skills for the post, such as mental health issues and social care.
