About the Role Walsall Council is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Social Worker to join its Children's Safeguarding service on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is confident in managing complex cases and committed to achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
Responsibilities
* Hold and manage a varied and complex caseload in line with statutory requirements.
* Undertake high‑quality assessments, direct work, and intervention planning to safeguard children at risk of harm.
* Lead on child protection processes, including Section 47 enquiries, Initial Child Protection Conferences, and Child in Need planning.
* Produce timely, evidence‑based reports for court proceedings and multi‑agency meetings.
* Work collaboratively with families, partner agencies, schools, health services, and other professionals to promote children's safety and wellbeing.
* Provide professional guidance, support, and mentoring to less experienced team members.
* Ensure all work complies with legislation, local policies, and best practice standards.
About You / Qualifications
* Is a qualified Social Worker with SWE registration.
* Has strong experience within children's safeguarding, child protection, and complex casework.
* Brings excellent assessment, communication, and analytical skills.
