About the role

Imperial College London seeks an Assistant Professor or clinical/non-clinical Associate Professor in Public Health and Community Involvement to join the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, School of Public Health within the Faculty of Medicine.

Imperial Patient Experience Research Centre (PERC) provides academic leadership and practical infrastructure for participatory aspects of translational research. Established in 2011 by Helen Ward (Clinical Professor of Public Health) and Sophie Day (Visiting Professor of Anthropology), it has delivered high quality research on the impact of translational research on patients and communities using participatory methods. It has an excellent reputation in the UK and internationally, and plays a key role in advising and supporting researchers across the Faculty of Medicine on research methods (mixed method, qualitative and participatory approaches in health research), and provides strategic leadership, training and infrastructure for patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) across the Faculty of Medicine, the BRC, and the Academic Health Science Centre. This includes recruiting and supporting a large network of public and community partners, providing resources and training for researchers and public partners, sharing good practice, and conducting outreach to engage local communities and build trust in Imperials research. PERC advises the BRC on research inclusion and broader equality, diversity and inclusion programmes. PERC also supports the Research Hub at the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine.

What you would be doing

You will ensure continuity of this work within the School of Public Health, and to further strengthen collaborations to support translational research across the Faculty and into the local community. PERCs combination of excellent research with public involvement underpins its credibility with academics and public partners. This post will further strengthen this approach in translational medicine through leading relevant research and education in participatory methods. You will have an established research record in public health (appropriate to the level of appointment) or other relevant discipline that demonstrates an interest in patient and public involvement or other participatory research methods.

What we are looking for

You must hold a PhD in Public Health and Community Involvement or related field or equivalent.

In addition, you will have the following knowledge and experience to commensurate with level of appointment:


* A national or international reputation and expertise in the field of public health and community involvement
* Proven track record of high-quality publications
* Proven ability to work across disciplines and specialities
* Experience of training Undergraduate and Postgraduate students
* Experience at the interface of academia and practice


For clinical appointments, you must also have

* Registration on the GMC Specialist Register or UKPHR (or eligibility within 6 months)
* CCT or equivalent (or within 6 months) MFPH or equivalent
* Evidence of up-to-date CPD

Salary

Assistant Professor (non-clinical): salary range: 70,,148 per annum
Associate Professor (non-clinical): starting salary 82,969 per annum
Clinical Consultant: 105,,477per annum
