Role Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Chartered Civil Engineer with a strong background in drainage design and hydrology to join our growing technical team. This role offers the opportunity to develop and lead a new team within OGI which undertakes urban and rural storm water drainage design, modelling of groundwater and surface water interaction, and temporary works surface water management.
Key responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of projects related to surface water drainage, storm water infiltration, and temporary works water management.
* Lead and undertake surface water drainage design and hydrological modelling and analysis, working with a supporting team of modellers and engineers.
* Prepare and review project proposals, feasibility studies, technical reports, briefing notes and RAMs.
* Manage the development of site investigation specifications and undertake factual and interpretive analysis.
* Prepare drawings, specifications and design documentation, using CAD/Visio, with support from team members.
* Develop designs in accordance with relevant legislation, standards and best practice guidance (e.g. CIRIA SuDS Manual C753)
* Provide technical leadership and mentoring to graduate and developing engineers.
* Contribute to project planning, budgeting and reporting.
* Liaise with clients, regulators and stakeholders, representing the company and its values in all interactions.
* Review and check work undertaken by others.
* Mentor and sponsor developing employees looking to become a chartered engineer.
Requirements
* Chartered status (CEng) with ICE or equivalent professional body (e.g. CIWEM)
* 8-10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, with a focus on drainage design and hydrology.
* Strong understanding of UK water legislation, planning policy and permitting processes.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Proven ability to manage projects and lead multidisciplinary teams (a project management qualification is desirable e.g. APMQ or CMgr)
* Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
* Excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
* Experience working in consultancy or client-facing roles
* Full UK driving licence (preferred)
* Knowledge of groundwater engineering, hydrogeology and temporary works ground engineering principles would be beneficial but not essential.
