A well-established main contractor with operations across the UK and Ireland is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in London. This is a great opportunity to work on major commercial and residential projects with a strong pipeline of work ahead.
Role Overview
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will manage the full commercial cycle on live projects, including cost planning, procurement, valuations, reporting and final accounts. The ideal candidate will be commercially minded, well-organised and confident in leading commercial duties on busy construction schemes.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare budgets, cost plans, valuations and final accounts
*
Liaise with the Surveying Director, Project Director and Project Manager
*
Attend design and site meetings and issue clear commercial updates
*
Maintain strong working relationships with client representatives
*
Review tender enquiries and assist with tender submissions
*
Negotiate project costs and fixed-price agreements
*
Chair pre-award meetings with subcontractors
*
Manage subcontractor procurement and performance on site
*
Oversee re-measurement, contra charges and payment certificates
*
Maintain and sign off variation logs with the Junior QS
*
Prepare interim payment applications and reconcile payments
*
Produce monthly cost reports and attend commercial meetings
*
Manage project cashflow forecasts
*
Ensure compliance with contract requirements and industry standards
Requirements
*
Degree in Quantity Surveying
*
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
*
Strong understanding of drawings, specifications and bills of quantities
*
Experience delivering commercial or residential projects
*
Ability to extract quantities and issue enquiries to subcontractors
*
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and QS software
*
Proven experience with valuations, variations and final accounts
*
Excellent communication and organisational skills
*
Able to work independently and as part of a wider team
*
Flexible, proactive and commercially focused
