Senior Motor Control Systems Engineer

Working Pattern: Hybrid - typically 2-3 days per week on-site
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Motor Control Systems Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary engineering team. In this role, you will own the design, development, and validation of advanced motor control algorithms, ensuring that system performance requirements are successfully met.
This is a great opportunity for an engineer with a strong background in motor control and system modelling who enjoys seeing designs progress from concept through to proven performance.
Key Responsibilities
Develop control algorithms for both analogue and digital systems, typically for BLDC motor control.
Model systems and perform performance analysis of control algorithms.
Derive sub-system requirements for mechanical, electronic, and software elements.
Identify suitable electro-mechanical components (motors, feedback sensors) and collaborate with suppliers where required.
Define and execute design proving plans, testing, and subsequent data analysis.
About You
Essential skills and experience:
Proven experience in designing and developing digital control algorithms.
Skilled user of MATLAB/Simulink and Embedded Coder for algorithm generation and system deployment.
Ability to model complex real-world systems, including feedback sensors, motors, drivetrains, and drive electronics.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical disciplines.
Desirable skills:
Experience deriving sub-system or component requirements from customer specifications.
Knowledge of motor control strategies such as Field Oriented Control (FOC) or Space Vector PWM (SVPWM).
Familiarity with DO-178C or DO-331 standards and code generation processes.
