About the Role: Data Protection & Governance Support Assistant
Location: Leeds, LS15 (with hybrid working after training)
Salary: £26,000 - £33,000 per annum DOE, plus benefits
Contract type: Permanent
Employment type: Full time
Working hours: 37.5 hours/week, Monday - Friday

Key Responsibilities:
* Investigate, document, and follow up on data incidents and breaches
* Conduct risk assessments, Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), and Legitimate Interest Assessments
* Maintain compliance documentation: Records of Processing Activities, risk/incident registers, training logs
* Support audits and reviews of information governance and security frameworks
* Assist in staff training (e-learning, webinars, in-person)
* Ensure privacy by design in new projects and initiatives
* Collaborate across departments (IT, HR, customer service, pharmacy, purchasing, operations)
* Respond to data protection queries and maintain resources on SharePoint
* Update policies to align with legal/regulatory standards
* Manage governance inboxes and task tracking for timely responses
Candidate Requirements:
* GCSEs in Maths and English (grade C/4 or above)
* Experience in support, administration, or coordination roles
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and high attention to detail
* Understanding of UK data protection laws (UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018)
* Comfort with IT systems and quick learner of new tools
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Experience managing workload in fast-paced environments
* Experience within regulatory, ethical, or compliance frameworks
