We have a fantastic opportunity for full‑time Ambulance Care Assistants (ACAs) to join our team based in Kibworth, Leicestershire.

An Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) is a rewarding and fulfilling role. Every day you help someone in need, transport elderly, sick, and vulnerable service users to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities. This can be carried out as two‑person crews or alone, so you must hold a full UK driving licence and have a good degree of physical fitness.


Responsibilities

* Transporting elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities.
* Operating as part of two‑person crews or alone while ensuring safe and efficient transport.
* Working on a rota basis with 5 × 8 hr shifts per week, including weekends, and covering shifts between 5 am and midnight.
* Assisting in the transportation of end‑of‑life service users with empathy.
* Building rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives/friends.
* Lifting, securing and helping service users in and out of the ambulance.
* Assisting with handing over patients to appropriate staff upon arrival at treatment centres or to families at their homes.
* Transferring patients from beds to stretchers, chairs to chairs, or similar, both in and out of hospital and medical/commercial flights.
* Managing challenging behaviour and/or mental health illnesses of service users.
* Keeping the ambulance safe, clean and tidy.


Other Duties

* Assisting in the transportation of ‘end of life’ service users, ensuring a high level of empathy.
* Building rapport with patients and relatives/customers.
* Securing patients in and out of the ambulance.
* Ensuring the ambulance remains safe, clean and tidy.


Qualifications & Requirements

* Committed to patient care.
* Effective communicator with experience in emotionally charged situations.
* Calm, considerate and careful driver, no more than three penalty points on your licence.
* Team‑working and collaboration skills.
* Physically fit for patient handling and moving.
* Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded).
* Flexible to work variable shifts.
* Familiar with the local and surrounding area.
