Contract type Fixed Term (Full time) Closing date 12 December 2025 Interview date 18 December 2025 Job Description Job Purpose

The purpose of the National youth team coach role is to oversee the delivery and implementation of the Welsh Way tactical principles, and the transition of players within the pathway and support the player development process through on pitch delivery, strategic monitoring and individual support, and contribute to the implementation of our Wales - High Performance Strategy.


Key Areas of Accountability or Responsibility

- Manage a youth men's age group across the international windows including including qualification and final tournaments and relevant preparation and review days.
- Deliver player centered coaching practices and support the on and off field delivery of the Welsh Way.
- Support the delivery and execution of the Our Wales High Performance Strategy.
- Play a key role to identify, recruit and monitor players for the national teams.
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively all relevant departments and stakeholder to
- Develop an aligned player development pathway and structure to the national team that will best prepare players for international team success.
- Implement the teams’ objectives and technical syllabus within the “Welsh Way” National Curriculum framework.
- Provide support to develop talent ID, recruitment and monitoring strategy for male players to maximise and enhance the player pathway.
- Work effectively with all support services to ensure alignment, clear focus on a multi-disciplinary focus on the individual.
- Follow the technical department plan, do, and review process with the multi-disciplinary team.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clubs in and out of Wales
- Work closely with the talent identification and retention Manager to ensure effective monitoring of key players across the pathway.
- To be a positive ambassador for men's football in Wales and project a professional and positive image of Welsh football through media and press opportunities in relation to the national team and in support of Welsh football’s ongoing activities
and events.
- Create a safe environment for players on camp and ensure adherence to FAW Safeguarding, policies, practices and procedures.
- Demonstrate the professionalism and integrity expected of a position of trust working with young players.
- Attend UEFA Share events and professional development activities as directed by the Head of Player Development and Chief Football Officer.
- Periodically provide support to the elite coach education courses to ensure alignment of the Welsh Way.
- Support and promote the FAW values of Respect, Family and Excellence.


Person Specification

Experience

- UEFA A’ Licence (Desirable UEFA Pro Licence)
- Relevant coaching experience within elite youth professional and / or National Youth Teams.


Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours

- Developmental focused with experience of nurturing and promoting young players.
- Highly skilled communicator with the ability to utilise technology effectively.
- Understanding of multi-disciplinary working in high performing environments.
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to connect to individuals, clubs and the wider stakeholders.
- Passionate about player development and working collaboratively across all disciplines to support the individual.


Role Specific Requirements

- The ability to speak Welsh would be advantageous.
- Due to the nature of the industry, the ideal candidate must be flexible in their availability as irregular hours and weekend work will be required for this role, and working on 10-day camps.
- The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check
