Location: Bow/Stanstead Reports to: Estimating Manager / Commercial Manager / Director Department: Estimating / Commercial Job Purpose: The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical installations and systems across a range of projects. This includes analysing drawings, specifications, and tender documents to assess material, labour, and time requirements, and compiling estimates for submission. Key Responsibilities: Review tender documentation including drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities. Prepare detailed and accurate electrical estimates for commercial, residential, and industrial projects. Conduct site surveys and attend pre-tender meetings when required. Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to gather pricing information and technical details. Produce take-offs from drawings and create bills of materials and labour. Evaluate and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations for technical compliance and best value. Prepare tender adjudication reports and support tender submissions. Work closely with the procurement team to secure competitive prices. Maintain an up-to-date database of pricing, suppliers, and subcontractors. Support project handover to the operations team including preparation of cost breakdowns and risk assessments. Monitor cost variances and assist with value engineering and cost control during project delivery when required. Requirements: Essential: Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator in building services, contracting, or construction. Strong understanding of electrical systems, regulations, and installation methods. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and specifications. Proficient in estimation software (e.g., Trimble/Amtech/ConEst) and Microsoft Excel. Excellent numerical, analytical, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines. Desirable: Electrical engineering or related qualification (HNC/HND/NVQ Level 3 or above). CSCS card or equivalent. Knowledge of current IEE wiring regulations (BS7671). Experience in estimating for both design & build and traditional tenders.
