Our Strategic Planning Service undertakes exciting projects like preparing our local plan and minerals and waste plans, determining planning applications for minerals and waste developments, supporting our communities to produce neighbourhood plans, and measuring the performance of our development plans.
As an established unitary authority, we can offer the following opportunity to develop your specialist knowledge of minerals and waste planning and shape the future of a thriving county with so much to offer.
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic planning professional to support the Service in delivering its development management functions relating to minerals and waste development. You will work on a range of planning applications relating to mines and quarries, landfill and other facilities managing waste, providing sound and timely advice on Plan Policies and development proposals, including pre-application submissions and EIA screening and scoping opinions.
There will also be an opportunity to be involved in ongoing activities associated with the development, restoration and review of sites. The successful candidate will have a strong background in minerals and waste planning.
Our hybrid working model means office staff are on site for at least half their hours, community-based staff carry out at least half their admin time in a workplace, and customer-facing roles work entirely from their service location.
