Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and professional member of staff to lead the buying team in our busy Procurement Team.

You will be working in an experienced Operational Procurement Team supporting our circa 1600 users of the Oracle SBS system and helping the day to day purchase to pay process to run smoothly enabling clinical staff to focus on care.

We are looking for a team player with strong leadership skills and a customer focused approach.

You will have experience of managing or supervising staff and using financial or purchase to pay systems.

You need to be able to demonstrate commercial awareness, good communication skills, be well organised and have advanced skills in the use of Microsoft packages.

Previous experience of working within either procurement, finance or the NHS is essential.

Main duties of the job

This role is pivotal role in the Trust Procurement Team; streamlining the purchase to pay process and delivering a responsive operational purchasing service.

The Manager will also provide a supportive service to encourage and enable staff to use the system and to undertake problem management to allow the process to operate properly; orders sent promptly, suppliers paid and processes followed according to the Trust SFIs. The role includes monitoring the use of the system, proactively targeting poor use of the system and identifying process changes and training needs.

The Team Leader will provide direct line management of the buying team and undertake designated managerial responsibilities as required, specifically in times of absence.

A high level of compliance with Trust SFIs and Scheme of Delegation

Delivery of value and cost savings

Excellent customer service to the Trust SBS users of the Purchase to Pay system

* Knowledge of professional purchasing principles and contract law acquired through either:
* NVQ/Diploma business admin 3
* NVQ supply chain management level3
* Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Foundation, and additional short courses
* or equivalent experience
* or equivalent qualifications.
* GCSE Maths and English
Desirable
* NVQ Level 4 or Association of Accounting Technicians Final Level
* GHX Nexus system/ product knowledge
* SBS Oracle System knowledge
* NHS Supply Chain system knowledge
* PRINCE 2 or other Project Mgt
Experience Essential
* Experience of staff supervision
* Experience of using or supporting financial systems or any aspect of the purchase to pay process (replenishment, ordering, payments, procurement)
* Experience of producing accurate work (in an academic or work environment) with a high level of attention to detail
* Experience in overseeing systems processes

* Highly analytical, able to design analyses in Excel, analyse data and draw conclusions
