Registered Nurse (Bank) role at Hill Care.
Location: Aaron Grange Care Home, Blacklow Brow.
Job Title: RGN / RMN / RMNH (Bank / Casual)
Reporting To: Home Manager
Job Purpose: To achieve the highest possible standard of care in a professional manner through direct nursing care and effective supervision of staff members. To take management responsibility for a shift as directed.
Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications
Required
 * 1st Level Nurse
 * Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
 * Genuine interest in working with the relevant client group
 * Satisfactory Police Check and check against the POVA List (where applicable)
Desired
 * Team player
 * Experience/qualification in care for relevant client category
 * Previous supervisory experience
Main Responsibilities
 * Ensure that all staff contribute to the efficient running of the Care Home and the best interests of clients; duties may include acting up for the Deputy/Home Manager in their absence.
 * Report ill health amongst clients and arrange GP/professional visits when necessary.
 * Ensure care plans are completed and maintained with clients, relatives and other health professionals, in accordance with NMC guidelines and company policy.
 * Assess care needs and provide health supervision and direct nursing care when required.
 * Assess social and health care needs of new clients and maintain ongoing assessment of all clients.
 * Maintain individualised care plans; review client care plans bi-annually (or more frequently as required), per NMC guidelines and policy.
 * Carry out regular checks on clients and provide clear handover reports at shift end.
 * Administer prescribed medicines and document in accordance with company procedures and NMC guidelines.
 * Practice integrity in dealings with clients’ personal and financial affairs and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship.
Communication
 * Participate in staff and client meetings as required.
 * Establish and maintain good communication with clients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team; provide administrative support when required.
Budgetary/Financial Control
 * Ensure commodities used are sensibly conserved by all staff (e.g., incontinence aids, wipes, dressings, electricity).
Marketing
 * Actively market the care home and promote a positive profile within the local community.
 * Ensure the care home is attractively presented and odour-free; maintain a suitable viewing room when appropriate.
Training & Development
 * Supervise and instruct junior staff; maintain and improve professional knowledge; attend mandatory training as required.
Health & Safety
 * Report illness or accidents promptly; implement health and safety policies and procedures; address faults or hazards with the Home Manager or Handyperson as appropriate; promote safe working practices.
General
 * Adhere to NMC guidelines/regulations; maintain required records; protect confidentiality; assist with fundraising; notify absence and return to duty; ensure security of the care home; comply with company policies and procedures; ensure equipment is clean and well maintained; carry out other tasks as reasonably assigned.
