Testvale Surgery is looking for a highly motivated registered part‑time Practice Nurse, who is a conscientious team player with excellent communication skills, to join our friendly practice nurse team. The focus of the role is to undertake all aspects of the treatment room and long‑term condition reviews, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective nursing care to our patient population.
We are a successful and forward‑thinking practice hosting medical services to approximately 14,000 patients in the Totton area. We are an established training practice and regularly have medical students & GP registrars. We like to empower our workforce, supporting you to develop to your fullest potential, as well as partnering with patients to take shared responsibility for their healthcare.
Salary will be dependent on experience and will be discussed at interview. Ideally, we are looking for PT 28 hours per week. Flexibility to cover for holidays and sickness is essential.

Main duties of the job
Clinical duties
Provide clinical excellence in all treatment room areas of routine general practice nursing as part of GMS and national guidelines.
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care pathways to meet the needs of individuals and groups within an agreed policy, PGDs, guidelines, national service frameworks and identifying the need for referral to others.
Communicate effectively with patients/families/carers regarding information about their care and considering the equality and diversity needs and preferences of said population.
Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records using the practice clinic system (EMIS).
Protect and promote the health and well‑being of patients, their relatives and carers through advice, education, screening and signposting to appropriate agencies when required.
Manage programmes of care for patients with long‑term conditions and other practice nurse duties by providing and evaluating care under agreed guidelines and patient group directives. These may include but are not exhaustive of:
* Diabetes
* Cardiovascular disease
* Asthma, COPD
* Contraception and Sexual Health
* Adult and childhood immunisations
* Difficult‑to‑reach service users
* Dementia
* Cervical Screening
* Travel Health
Apply infection control measures in all areas of Practice.
Signpost effectively to other clinicians and agencies when appropriate.
Job responsibilities
The post holder will be the nurse team leader at Testvale Surgery, working autonomously, demonstrating strong professional decision‑making skills, effective communication and clinical expertise. They will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of evidence‑based nursing care to the practice population and will actively support the Practice Management team in developing and reviewing clinical policy. They will provide leadership to the nursing team to ensure the effective and efficient provision of Primary Health Care services.
