Here at mydentist, we are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Dental Clinical Supervisor to support a new pilot training scheme in the UK. As part of the new BDS international course, you will be supporting overseas qualified Dentists during a placement at our Enhanced Training Practice in Falmouth, which will be equivalent of 4th and 5th year of a traditional UK BDS.
You will be joining an established team of 3 clinical supervisors and this role is ideally suited for colleagues wishing to reduce their direct clinical commitments and support teaching and training. There is also the opportunity to complete a PGCert in Dental Education as part of the role.
More about the responsibilities of the role:
Salary circa £85,000 (FTE/pro rata)
To work in the practice on Thursday and Fridays
PGCert in Dental Education is fully funded
To provide clinical supervision and support to up to 4 overseas qualified dentists in a general dental practice environment.
To liaise with the educational staff of the Dental School at UCLAN and the my dentist clinical team about the progress and abilities of the dental students.
To attend any training or meetings that UCLAN and/or my dentist deem appropriate for clinical supervisors.
To assess and grade the treatment provided and professionalism of the students for the purposes of meeting their clinical requirements.
To maintain skills, competencies and required continued professional development appropriate for general practice and the support of dental students.
To liaise with the practice manager for the satisfactory integration of dental students into the practice.
To provide appropriate pastoral support to the dental students whilst in the practice and report to UCLAN and my dentist any untoward issues arising from the dental students.

The PGCert is fully funded and comprises of two key modules. This will give you an understanding of ways to facilitate learning in practice, as well as effective mentoring techniques. These modules are:

Mentoring in Dental Practice
Role Requirements
Full GDC registration as a Dentist and NHS performer number
Minimum 4 years UK experience post qualification as a general Dentist
Previous experience in teaching or mentoring is desirable
