We are looking for a Practice Nurse to join our nursing team.
Ideally, you will work between 32 hours a week, between the hours of 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

The post holder will be responsible for the care and management of delivering nursing services to our patients.

Probus Surgery is a well-established Primary Care provider offering NHS services to a local population of circa 9500 patients. We operate from our main surgery and branch sites at The Merlin Centre and Tregony. Our clinical team includes GPs, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners, Paramedics, Nurses, HCAs, Pharmacists, Dispensers, Care Co-Ordinators, Social Prescribers, Receptionists, and Admin staff.
Job responsibilities
The core responsibilities of a Practice Nurse include:
* Assessing, diagnosing, treating, referring, signposting, and discharging patients independently, in accordance with clinical evidence and NICE guidelines.
* Undertaking chronic disease reviews (e.g., diabetes, COPD, asthma, heart failure, learning disabilities).
* Telephone triage.
* Collection of pathology specimens (blood samples, swabs, etc.).
* Performing simple wound and complex dressings, including leg ulcers.
* Conducting smears and contraception/pill checks, supporting women's health clinics.
* Performing investigatory procedures as requested.
* Using appropriate infection control procedures.
* Ensuring safe storage of equipment and drugs.
* Maintaining clinical standards, acknowledging limitations, and ensuring safe and effective treatment.
* Adapting communication styles to empower self-management and health education.
* Participating in vaccination programs, vaccinating patients in the Practice and during home visits.
* Sharing knowledge and skills with colleagues to promote best practices.
* Communicating effectively within the team to ensure high-quality service delivery.
* Working within Practice policies and procedures.
* Engaging in continuous professional development.
* Contributing to team effectiveness and efficiency.
* Establishing good liaison with other practices and the wider health system, including secondary care.
* Supporting safeguarding matters and referring concerns appropriately.
* Delegating tasks safely and assessing competence.
* Recording accurate and legible notes of consultations and treatments.
* Maintaining up-to-date clinical systems and accurate coding.
* Ensuring service claims are made accurately and reporting issues.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* RGN diploma/degree
* NMC registration
Experience
* Experience working within a GP practice
* Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize
* Ability to maintain confidentiality
* Ability to work flexibly both independently and as part of a team
* Experience in managing long-term conditions
* Knowledge of SystmOne clinical system
* Experience with learning disabilities management
