Due to continued success and new project awards, we are seeking to recruit a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join our busy design studio at our Head Office in Southampton.
About the Role:
We are a friendly and professional multi–disciplinary team responsible for the design management of various projects across sectors. Reporting to the Electrical Design Manager, you will manage all aspects of electrical design.
Key Duties:
1. Manage project-specific design deliverables.
2. Carry out design in accordance with M&E Design QA Procedures.
3. Ensure detailed design compliance with Trant Procedures.
4. Interpret client requirements from documents such as drawings, specifications, and correspondence.
5. Communicate with clients, external design resources, and subcontractors to ensure specifications are met.
6. Conduct site surveys of existing assets.
7. Perform optioneering and feasibility studies.
8. Assist with tender pricing.
9. Create procurement specifications for electrical equipment and detailed design construction drawings.
10. Manage third-party designs and support installation and commissioning teams.
11. Review vendor control system specifications and electrical equipment data.
12. Manage project design costs in liaison with the Project Manager.
13. Undertake and verify design calculations, including power system modeling (AMTECH).
14. Prepare drawings for CAD production.
15. Develop process control philosophies with engineers and suppliers.
16. Produce electrical scope and works enquiry documents.
17. Estimate material and labor costs.
18. Conduct design risk assessments.
19. Prepare detailed electrical specifications.
20. Create single line diagrams, load schedules, equipment specifications, and I/O listings.
21. Document all design changes and issue 'As Built' documents.
22. Liaise with clients and subcontractors.
Qualifications & Background:
An appropriate electrical qualification or relevant experience. Chartered Engineer status is advantageous but not essential.
