Multiskilled Maintenance EngineerEssexFood Manufacturing | FMCGDays Only (on call one week every six)Salary: £53,000The OpportunityWe are recruiting for a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established food manufacturing site operating within a continuous-process FMCG environment.This role is open to either electrically or mechanically biased engineers, offering a stable days-based position with a clear pathway to increased earnings through a structured on-call rota.The business has a strong focus on safety, sustainability, and long-term investment, supplying some of the UK's most recognisable food brands.The RoleAs a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer, you'll maintain and improve electrical and mechanical systems across production and site services. Depending on your core discipline, you'll focus on your bias while continuing to build broader multi-skilled capability.You'll play a key role in reducing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesPlanned, predictive, and reactive maintenance across production equipmentElectrical work including 3-phase motors, MCCs, inverters, control panels, sensors, and safety circuitsMechanical maintenance on gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, pumps, pneumatics, and hydraulicsFirst-line PLC fault-finding and diagnostics (training available)Maintenance of processing and packaging lines in a continuous-process environmentLogging work accurately via a CMMS systemSupporting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement projectsParticipation in a 1-in-6 on-call rota (post-training / site familiarisation)Ensuring all work meets health & safety and food safety standardsThe Ideal CandidateRecognised electrical or mechanical engineering apprenticeshipFormal engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)Experience in a maintenance role within FMCG, food, or continuous-process manufacturingStrong fault-finding skills in your core disciplineWillingness to work as a multi-skilled engineerGood working knowledge of health & safety in manufacturingComfortable using CMMS systemsDesirable (Not Essential)Experience with PLC-controlled machineryExposure to Siemens or Allen Bradley PLCsHACCP / food safety awarenessBackground in continuous or high-volume manufacturingWhat's on Offer£46,700 basic salaryEarnings rising to £53,000 once on the 1-in-6 on-call rotaDays-only shift patternSecure, long-term role within a well-established FMCG businessStrong commitment to training, development, and progressionSupportive engineering team and safety-first cultureInterested?Apply today or get in touch for a confidential discussion.TPBN1_UKTJ
