Behaviour Intervention Support Assistant – SEMH Schools (Birmingham) Location: Birmingham (B5, B12, B25, B33 & surrounding areas) Type: Full-Time / Long-Term Salary: £85–£95 per day (depending on experience and/or qualifications) Start Date: Immediate The School and Role ABC Teachers are working with a number of SEMH schools across Birmingham to recruit confident, resilient individuals to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and challenging behaviour. These schools support pupils who benefit from strong role models, clear boundaries, consistency, and positive behaviour strategies. Many pupils require 1:1 or small-group support, particularly during transitions, unstructured times, and emotionally challenging moments. As a Behaviour Intervention Support Assistant, you will play a key role in helping pupils regulate their emotions, develop positive behaviour, and re-engage with learning. You will support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom, using calm, firm, and consistent approaches. This role is well suited to candidates with backgrounds in youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, care, security, or behaviour support. Key Responsibilities Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour strategies Build strong, positive relationships De-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely Support learning and engagement in class Assist during transitions, breaktimes, and structured activities Work closely with teachers and pastoral teams As a Behaviour Intervention Support Assistant with ABC Teachers, You Will Receive: Excellent daily rates paid using the PAYE system.
