This is a pivotal full:time position for a dedicated DT Technician to join a specialised technical environment in Leeds. The successful candidate will act as the vital link between ambitious curriculum goals and practical classroom execution. This role involves managing a high:spec workshop, ensuring all machinery is primed for use, and providing direct technical support to students as they navigate complex engineering projects. Requirements
* Prior experience working as a technician, ideally within an educational or training setting.
* Knowledge of COSHH and general risk assessment procedures.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness for one).
Essential Skills
* Technical Proficiency: Hands:on experience with wood and metal:working machinery.
* Digital Literacy: Confidence in using CAD/CAM software and associated hardware.
* Safety Consciousness: A deep:rooted understanding of workshop health and safety protocols.
* Problem Solving: The ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical or technical issues.
* Organisation: Exceptional skills in managing inventories and physical workspaces.
* Communication: The ability to explain technical processes clearly to students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and set up materials, tools, and equipment for all DT and Engineering lessons.
* Perform daily safety checks on all machinery and hand tools to ensure a secure environment.
* Provide at:the:bench technical assistance to students during practical sessions.
* Maintain and service specialist equipment, including lathes, milling machines, and saws.
* Manage the operation and maintenance of CAD/CAM machinery, such as 3D printers and laser cutters.
* Monitor and manage stock levels, including the ordering of consumables and specialised materials.
* Ensure all hazardous substances are stored and handled in strict accordance with COSHH regulations.
* Maintain an organised, clean, and efficient workshop and storage system.
* Assist teaching staff in the development of new project prototypes and demonstration models.
* Implement and uphold the schools Health and Safety policies to the highest standard.
