We are seeking to appoint a compassionate, dedicated, and highly organised Pastoral Manager to play a pivotal role in supporting the wellbeing, behaviour, and attendance of pupils and their families. The Pastoral Manager will also take a lead in safeguarding across the school as the DSL. Shirestone Academy is a one-form entry primary school located in the Tile Cross area of Birmingham. The Pastoral Manager will undertake a wide range of duties, including engaging with pupils and families on a daily basis and managing complex safeguarding matters with professionalism and sensitivity. The role is central to the school’s safeguarding provision and to the promotion of excellent attendance and punctuality, ensuring that all pupils are given the best possible opportunity to succeed. The successful candidate will support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and work to remove barriers to learning through effective collaboration with families, staff, and external agencies. The ability to build and sustain positive, professional relationships is essential. As noted by Ofsted, “relationships between pupils and staff at this school are exceptional and contribute to the warm, caring culture.” The Pastoral Manager will play a key role in maintaining this ethos. The Pastoral Manager will lead on school admissions and be the first point of contact for parents, carers, and external agencies, providing a welcoming, professional, and supportive presence for all enquiries. The Pastoral Manager will act as the designated lead for first aid within the school, ensuring appropriate procedures are followed and records are accurately maintained. They will coordinate first aid provision, support staff in responding to incidents and provide guidance and assistance where required. They will also help ensure staff are appropriately trained and confident in administering first aid across the school setting. The postholder will work closely with senior leaders, staff, families, and external partners to ensure that pupils attend regularly, feel safe and supported, and are able to thrive.
