SEN Learning Support Assistant - Challenging Behaviour Focus

Salary: £90 - £95 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)
Start date: ASAP or September 2025
We are seeking to appoint dedicated and resilient SEN Learning Support Assistants to join a growing network of schools in Torbay, providing vital support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour.
This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential in inclusive, nurturing environments.
* Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO.
* Building positive relationships to support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour, and engagement.
* Implementing individual behaviour plans and using effective de-escalation strategies.
* Working collaboratively with teachers and external professionals to meet the individual needs of each child.
* Maintaining accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour.
* Have experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly SEMH or behavioural needs.
* Are calm, consistent, and able to respond flexibly to challenging situations.
* Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Hold a valid Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service) or are willing to obtain one.
* Have relevant training (e.g. Team Teach, MAPA, or similar) - desirable but not essential.
